Here’s just a few images from the Spread a little happiness Celebration of Learning at Armthrope and Sprotbrough Community centres. Year 7’s designed, made and filled with items a kindness box for their elderly person and presented it to them at thees COL’s.
Year 7 have been working closely with Age UK in their current expedition Spread A Little Happiness. They have done service learning by playing games with users of Age UK in Sprotbrough and Armthorpe and found out what they like. Students then made “Kindness boxes” for their person with the things they like in.

Today, Colin from Age UK has been teaching Year 7 students about Dementia. At the end of the presentation students chose whether they Pledge to become a Dementia Friend. Dementia friends is a project run by Alzheimer’s Society to help everyone understand dementia so that people can live well with dementia and feel part of the community.
Year 7 students from Admiral have been playing games with the elderly as part of service learning for their expedition Spread a little happiness.
Below are some examples of their answers to the guiding question…
In Spring 2015, the Year 7 expedition was called “Spread a little happiness”, where students had to answer the guiding question ‘Can kindness change the world?’
This e-book contains abstracts from the essays on the guiding question.

Yesterday our year 7’s performed Random Acts of Kindness at Lakeside Village. They handed out flowers, baked goods, sweets, drinks and chocolate to the general public asking them to ‘Pay It Forward’. There were even treats for the dogs.
Great work Year 7!!
