Applying for a place at XP – Fair Banding Assessment

Author Profile
9 July 2026

Geoff

To ensure a balanced intake of students across all ability levels, all applicants to an XP secondary school must sit a Fair Banding Assessment.

This multiple-choice test focuses on non-verbal reasoning and helps us place students into one of five ability bands. There is no pass or fail, and results are used solely to support a broad and representative admissions process.

Completing the assessment is a key part of the application and must be done to be considered for a place.

Please ensure your child is registered by 31st October 2026 and prepared to attend the assessment on 21st November 2026.

E33 Crew CST – Ending half-term on a high!

Cherice St-Louis

On Wednesday, we had our ‘Wise Wednesday’ session in Crew and explored the impact of online behaviour and how it affects others. The students took their time to reflect on their thoughts about the video and made great contributions.

As Thursday was the last Crew session of the first half-term, we held a Crew breakfast to celebrate a positive start to the year. We all enjoyed a pancake (or two!) and some music before checking our praises and resets for the past week.

It has been a pleasure to start this journey with you all. Have a fantastic half-term break and come back energised ready for part two!

It has been an action-packed term for Rosa Parkes! The students have hit the ground running, tackling new subjects and fully immersing themselves in their GCSE courses. It really has been non-stop, and their hard work is absolutely paying off. I am bursting with pride over the praise our students have received this term, and I couldn’t wait to share some of these highlights with you!

Students have been completing extended study in Maths and Science, working really hard on SPARX and Tassami. All this hard-work will help you prepare for your GCSE’s

Introducing… CREW HAMILTON!

Author Profile

Cheryl Stephens

A New Name, A New Identity, One Amazing Crew!

What an exciting time it has been for our Crew! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have officially launched our new Crew name… CREW HAMILTON!

This is much more than just choosing a name. It is about creating an identity, building a sense of belonging and celebrating what makes our Crew so special.

We chose to name our Crew after Lewis Hamilton because he is not only a successful Formula 1 driver, but also someone who represents all of our Crew character values.

He shows respect by treating others fairly and standing up for what he believes in.

He demonstrates compassion by caring for others and using his voice to make a positive difference.

He shows integrity by staying true to himself and doing what is right, even when it is difficult.

He demonstrates courage by overcoming challenges, breaking barriers and never giving up on his dreams.

Finally, he represents craftsmanship and quality through his hard work, dedication and determination to always be the best he can be.

A Crew to Be Proud Of!

At the heart of everything we do is our belief that we are stronger together. Every child brings something unique to our Crew, and together we are learning to support one another, celebrate our successes, overcome challenges and aim high!

Our new name, Crew Hamilton, represents the beginning of an exciting journey. It is a name we can grow with, take pride in and make our own.

We want every child to feel that they belong, that their voice matters and that they play an important part in making Crew Hamilton the very best it can be.

We Are Crew, Not Passengers!

In Crew Hamilton, we know that being part of a Crew means looking out for each other, showing kindness, demonstrating courage and always striving to be the best versions of ourselves.

We will encourage one another when things get tricky, cheer each other on when we succeed and remember that every achievement, no matter how small, deserves to be celebrated.

The launch of Crew Hamilton is just the beginning! We cannot wait to build our Crew identity, create wonderful memories and show our school community exactly what makes us special.

To our parents, thank you for being part of our journey. Your encouragement and support mean so much as we help our children grow in confidence, character and independence.

There are exciting times ahead, and we are ready to embrace every opportunity!

One Crew. One team. One Crew Hamilton

Netball superstars

This week in netball, our Year 7 and Year 9/10 teams took to the court against Sir Thomas Wharton. Across both teams, our students demonstrated fantastic teamwork, clear communication, and a fierce determination to succeed!

The Year 9/10 team played first, delivering a match filled with outstanding netball from both schools. Our attack was absolutely on fire, and while the game was fiercely contested, XP/XP East ultimately secured a hard-fought victory.

It was also a milestone week for our new Year 7 squad, who played their very first game together. The students did a brilliant job, testing out new positions and experimenting with different formations on the court. We can’t wait to see how they continue to develop!

This first term in photography has challenged our students to explore camera composition as well as getting to grips with how to use the camera settings, the following examples showcase recent work carried out on changing the cameras aperture to explore different depths of field.

All the work has been based around the theme of “still life photography” with students exploring how to make every day objects look exciting.

Students have been encouraged to take plenty of photo shoots outside of XP, when ever they are out and about and visiting exciting locations. We can’t wait to see what great images they take over the half term break.

Crew MNO Bake Off!!!

Maddison Norburn

This morning crew MNO had their first crew Bake Off. It was a huge success and it was amazing to see all of crew getting involved and sharing their bakes. I (Miss Norburn) was fortunate enough to try a variety of sweet treats made by crew and blind rank them to find a winner.

All of the bakes I tried were FANTASTIC and if I could have picked them all to be the winner, I would have but unfortunately I had to narrow it down to 3rd, 2nd and 1st place (with the help of guest Judge Miss Leatham).

The results are…

In third place Jude!

In second place Ollie!

In first place … Lucas !!!!

A huge well done to everyone in crew who participated, it was so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and creating a new crew experience together and I can’t wait for next time – Bake off Christmas edition!
