Grand Designs Book

The Grand Designs book launched on Saturday at the Potteric Carr Springwatch event is now available to order online and in school.

This book was the final product of the year 7 expedition Grand Designs last year where students investigated ‘What in nature inspires us?’ and ‘Is there a design to nature?’. The book is a collection of the work students have done on the different species that exist at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve. Each student had to write a first person narrative, a fact file and produce a lino print on the species they were given which produced this amazing book.

You can now buy this book on our online shop or pop into school to purchase your copy. The lino prints that appear in the book can also be ordered and will be displayed in a decorative mount.

A price list is shown below

Grand Designs book: £9.95 collection from school or £12.95 posted to anywhere in the UK

Year 7 Extended Study Grand Designs

For Monday 16th May students are to produce a Google doc discussing what life was like in Victorian England.

In their doc they must use the text we have coded and their mind maps to discuss the following:

Queen Victoria, the British Empire, the developing industry, the differences between the rich and poor communities (to include education, jobs and housing.)

Skipper Grand Designs Revision: Part 1

Skipper have some I Am Learning and Mathletics activities to complete to assist with their revision for the STEM test for Grand Designs. All students should complete all tasks, as there will be more set next week. The deadline is Saturday 23rd. Please remind students of the benefits of thorough revision in meeting minimum expected grades for the expedition.

If there are any problems with completing work or logging into accounts, please encourage students to contact me in a timely manner.

Many thanks

Mr Voltaire

Potteric Carr 23.4.15

Admiral and Skipper had a great session at Potteric Carr where they observed their species in their natural habitat, worked on the new path and created a new seating area to be enjoyed in the future by many other members of our community.
