C23 Mining book launch

I am delighted to announce that on Thursday 23rd November at the Central Library in Doncaster the Class of 2023 are to take part in the official unveiling of their book ‘What does the community of Doncaster owe to the miners?’

The book launch will take place from 2pm and will be finished by 3.15pm.  We will be dismissing students from the Central Library where they can either be collected or make their way via public transport unless you request otherwise (see below).

If you wish for your son or daughter to return to school, we ask for you to confirm that you wish us to transport them back to school. Your son or daughter will receive a letter tomorrow which asks for confirmation of this request. Students travelling back to school by minibus should arrive back in school at around 3.30pm.

**** Students need to be in smart dress for the book launch*****

As you know we have held a celebration of learning for this expedition last year which was incredibly very well attended by parents and members of the community. Sadly, due to the limited space in the venue, and our desire to take all of our students to the launch, parents will not be able to attend the book launch on this occasion.

However, if you would like to purchase the book it is going to be available to purchase for £9.95 from:

  • XP School
  • The Calendar Club at Lakeside shopping centre
  • Tourist information at the Priory Centre in Doncaster
  • Waterstones in the Frenchgate

We ask that if you purchase a book, you take a photograph of their child/relative in front of the posters in the window and email it to school for us to use as part of promotion for the book.

There will be an exciting opportunity for the students to meet and take part in a question and answer session with Laurence Edwards who is presently consulting members of the public to produce a lasting memory of the mining community in the form of a sculpture for Doncaster.
