‘A pair of star-cross’d lovers’ Year 8 Fieldwork – Globe Theatre, London

Globe 2As part of Year 8’s next expedition entitled ‘Rebellion’ we have organised a visit to see a production of Romeo and Juliet at the Globe Theatre in London on Wednesday 10 May. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is built near to the site of the original theatre made famous by Shakespeare and his company who performed many of the bard’s plays for the first time at this venue in the 17th Century! The performance venue has been reconstructed in the style of an Elizabethan theatre and captures the magic and excitement of this period. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to see a live theatre performance in one of the world’s greatest and most sought after venues.

Globe 1We will leave at 8.00am on Wednesday 10 May, travel down to London by coach and watch a matinee performance at 2pm of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. We will return straight after the performance and arrive back in Doncaster at approximately 9.30pm, traffic permitting.Students will need to bring a packed lunch for the journey down to London and either another packed lunch or some money for the services on the way home. Any students who may suffer from travel sickness need to take medication before we leave and have additional medication to take for the journey home.
